Dr. Mark Mahn, A.Mus, D.D.S.
Dr. Mahn graduated from the University of Toronto in 1978 with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. In 1979 he founded the Paris Dental Centre. The same year he developed and began the dental division of the Willet Hospital, where treatment of small children and handicapped patients was done under general anaesthetic and where he was chief of dentistry for 15 years. He still continues this work at Brantford General Hospital, where he recently completed his term as chief of dentistry.
In the past he has served on the practice management committee of the Ontario Dental Association and as president of the Brant County Dental Society.
Dr. Mahn loves music and holds an Associate of Music diploma (concert piano). He has a wife, Lanny, and three grown children. The eldest, Jonathan, is a dentist with Paris Dental Centre.
Dr. Jonathan Mahn, B.Sc. Hons, D.D.S.
Dr. Jonathan M. Mahn (Dr. Jon) joined the Paris Dental Centre in July of 2008. He is a general dentist who has completed additional training in the administration of Oral and Intravenous Sedation, as certified by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
Jon majored in Biology at McMaster University, where he graduated with Honours, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons) degree. He then continued his training at the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree.
Jon was fortunate to be accepted as a General Practice Resident at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto where he received additional training and certification in Intravenous Sedation, Oral Sedation, Nitrous Oxide administration, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Here, Jon also had the opportunity to observe and assist in the O.R. on oral and maxillofacial surgery cases and alongside various dental specialists in the Sunnybrook Dental Clinic.
Jonathan volunteered working in the summer at the Children’s Clinic at the University of Western Ontario where he first had the opportunity to work extensively with children. As part of his Residency, he also volunteered in the Sandy Lake Reserve, Sioux Lookout Zone, Ontario where he spent 3 weeks providing dentistry to the local population who does not have a local dentist. Here, in addition to performing an extensive amount of treatment to children and adults in need, Jon was able to assist children in the local schools, educating them about the importance of regular oral hygiene and a proper diet.
Jonathan hopes to pursue future opportunities providing dentistry in under-serviced communities both in Canada and abroad. He currently enjoys traveling, baseball, basketball, tennis, weight lifting, and has a thorough interest in music. Jon was formerly a pianist for Flattstreet – a jazz/funk sextet, and the McMaster Big Band and Jazz Ensemble. He has completed his Grade 10 piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Jonathan has lived within the Paris surroundings for most of his life and has been playing baseball for the Brant Cardinals in recent summers.
Dr. Jon is currently very excited for his future with Paris Dental Centre and is currently treating the children at Smile City. He performs treatment with and without Oral Sedation and Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) and offers treatment with General Anesthetic at Brantford General Hospital for those with greater needs. Jon also treats adults in Paris Dental Centre and administers Oral Sedation, Nitrous Oxide and IV sedation for Dentistry While You Drowse for anxious adults.
Dr. Puneet Bath, B.D.S., D.D.S.
Dr. Puneet Bath graduated as Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Toronto with honours. Dr. Bath has 16 years of clinical and academic experience which also includes a degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery from India in 1998.
Dr. Bath has actively volunteered in various organizations like the Polycultural Immigration and Community Service Centre where presentations were given to address the preventive needs of the immigrant population.
Dr. Bath was also a student volunteer at Mt. Sinai where she observed and assisted with various procedures and in the management of children with special needs. Dr. Bath is excited for her new home at Paris Dental Centre and looks forward to treating both children and adults.
Apart for her passion for dentistry, Dr. Bath enjoys nature and travelling.
Dr. Alicia Gertig, D.D.S.
Dr. Alicia Gertig's life-long interest in dentistry was inspired by her father, Dr. Hans Gertig, who practiced in Brantford. "He built long lasting relationships with his patients and I hope to develop that same relationship with my patients." As a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in 2003, Dr. Alicia was pleased to join her father in his practice until he retired. Dr. Alicia is excited to have joined the team at Paris Dental Centre.
Dr. Alicia enjoys practicing all aspects of dentistry and has a special touch with children. Her fun and entertaining nature is infectious, as she is known to sing a song or two while working. "My goal is to create a warm and non-intimidating environment for my patients. Dental treatment can be fun and very rewarding." In addition to family dentistry, her passion is oral health promotion. "I believe strongly in education for prevention. Patients are our partners in maintaining optimal oral health."
When they're not traveling, you'll likely find Dr. Alicia and her husband sharing a meal (and a laugh!) with their families or enjoying time with their two English Setters, Fergie and Philip.
Dr. Nicole Marchand, B.Sc., D.D.S.
Dr. Nicole Marchand (Dr. Nicole) was born in Brantford and attended Assumption College School. She then pursued her studies at the University of Western Ontario where she received her B.Sc. in Biology graduating on the Dean's Honour List. Continuing her education at Western she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (with distinction) in 2008. She joined the Paris Dental Centre team in 2010.
Dr. Nicole believes in comprehensive dental treatment focusing on preventive care. Her kind and caring personality ensures that each patient experiences the most comfortable and relaxed dental treatment. She is very gentle making even the most anxious patients at ease.
Dr. Nicole is continuously improving her skills by taking many continuing education courses expanding her knowledge of advanced dental techniques. Aside from dentistry she enjoys travelling, skiing, soccer, shopping, jogging, and spending time with her family, friends, and her minature schnauzer Matty.
She is licensed with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and is an active member of the Canadian and Ontario Dental Association.
Dr. Mauricio Berco, D.D.S., DMSc, FRCD(C)
Dr. Mauricio Berco studied at Harvard University where he received his Doctorate of Medical Science (DMSc) degree and a Certificate in Orthodontics. Prior to returning home to Canada, he worked as an orthodontic associate in the greater Boston area. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Toronto, where he also attained an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) in human biology. Throughout his career, he has been recognized with several awards of distinction, including the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award, CDA Oral-B Scholarship, Human Anatomy Award, and T-Holders Academic Excellence Awards.
Dr. Berco's research interests have expanded both the medical and dental fields. Most recently he has been investigating the use of cone beam computed tomography in orthodontic diagnosis and the assessment of facial balance.
Dr. Berco is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and registered Orthodontic Specialist with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Moreover, he is an active member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists and the Harvard Society for the Advancement of Orthodontics.
In addition to his academic interests, Dr. Berco has always been involved in various sports activities including basketball, soccer, snowboarding, and tennis. He enjoys exercising on a regular basis and spending time with his wife and colleague Dr. Stephelynn DeLuca and daughter Mia.
Dr. Stephelynn DeLuca, D.D.S., DMSc, FRCD(C)
Dr. Stephelynn DeLuca graduated from Harvard University with her Doctorate of Medical Science (DMSc) degree and a Certificate in Orthodontics after completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Toronto in 2004. Throughout her studies, Dr. DeLuca received several awards of distinction for excellence in orthodontics, oral anatomy, oral surgery, and patient management. In recognition of her efforts she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
In addition to her dental and orthodontics training, Dr. DeLuca has worked in orthodontic offices in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire and completed Harvard's General Practice Residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Dr. DeLuca has conducted research on the impact of smoking on dental implants, vitamin D and bone metabolism. Her research has been published in leading scientific journals.
Dr. DeLuca is a registered Orthodontic Specialist with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She is an active member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontics, and the Ontario Dental Association.
Born and raised in Southern Ontario, Dr. DeLuca moved back to Ontario to be close to her family and fulfill her dream of opening a practice with her husband, Dr. Mauricio Berco. While it was fun to be in Boston when the Red Sox won the World Series, Dr. DeLuca is happy to be back home where hockey is number one and Tim Hortons brews the coffee.
